Osagie Ehanire who is the Minister of Health made mention during a meeting with the senate leadership in Abuja that the sum of N400 billion would be needed for procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He also mention that the Federal Government of Nigeria is ready to save it citizen lives from the deathly Corona Virus diseases but then about N400 billion would be in other to be able to vaccinate 70 percent of Nigeria’s over 200 million population at $8 per person.

Osagie Ehanire also mentioned that N156 billion would be needed for vacination in 2021 while N200 billion will be used in 2022.

Concerning storage, he also explained that the COVID-19 vaccine would be stored the same storage facilities used to store the Polio vaccine (Cold Chains).

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan however, expressed lack of confidence in the ability of the Federal Ministry of Health to effectively store and distribute the Covid-19 vaccines when they arrive in the country.
